THE COMING OF THE LORD
Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen. – Revelation 1:7
After the September 11 attacks on the United States, by the anti-Christ – those who do not believe Jesus is the Son of God (c.f. 1 John 4:1-3), someone asked Billy Graham’s daughter, Anne, where was God on September 11, 2001? She stated that God was where our Nation had placed Him: we removed God from our schools; our Government; our institutions; our homes, and our families – divorce rates, infidelity, and broken homes steadily rise.
Our Nation glorifies same sex marriages, murder and violent crimes continue, corruption and greed abound, and millions of unborn babies have been murdered (aborted) and discarded like trash – immorality is trademark of our American culture. Where was God on September 11? He was where our Nation has placed Him; away. He was only as close as we kept Him.
While I mourn for all the lives lost on that fateful day, and for those of our military and their families; likewise, our first responders, September 11 should serve as a sober reminder.
The Lord will come to deliver judgment. However, when the Bible speaks of the Lord’s coming it is not always in the eternal sense; it can also be in the temporal sense that He has arrived to bring judgment, i.e. the flood; Egypt; Israel; Judah; Nineveh; the Assyrians; the Babylonians; and, in 70AD under the leadership of the Roman general Vespasian, the destruction of the temple in Jerusalem. The Jewish religion was ultimately destroyed with that event. Two hundred plus years after that, Rome would fall. I wonder what the outcomes would have been if Nations / the people would have repented and remained faithful?
… if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. – 2 Chronicles 7:14
Pray that the church remains unstained from the World, and that our Nation will repent.
